🔥 Cook Time: 20 minutes

🍽️ Yield: 6–8 patties

🛒 Ingredients

For the Patty Mixture

* 1 cup red lentils

* 2 cups water

* 1 small onion, finely chopped

* 2 garlic cloves, minced

* ½ cup fresh parsley, chopped

* ½ cup ground oats or breadcrumbs

* 1 tsp ground cumin

* 1 tsp paprika

* ½ tsp turmeric

* ½ tsp black pepper

* 1 tsp salt

* 1 tbsp olive oil

For Cooking

* 2 tbsp vegetable oil or olive oil

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Lentils

Rinse the lentils thoroughly and place them in a saucepan with the water.

Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10–12 minutes until the lentils are tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.

Allow them to cool slightly.

2️⃣ Prepare the Mixture

Transfer the cooked lentils to a large mixing bowl.

Add the onion, garlic, parsley, ground oats, spices, and olive oil.

Mix well until a firm, shapeable mixture forms.

If the mixture feels too wet, add a little more oats or breadcrumbs.

3️⃣ Shape the Patties

Divide the mixture into equal portions.

Shape each portion into a medium-thick round patty.

Refrigerate the patties for 15 minutes to help them firm up.

4️⃣ Cook the Patties

Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat.

Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

Alternatively, bake them in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through.

5️⃣ Serve

Serve the patties hot with:

* A fresh green salad

* Garlic yogurt sauce

* Burger buns with lettuce and tomatoes

* Tahini sauce or hummus

💡 Tips for Success

✔️ Avoid overcooking the lentils to prevent the mixture from becoming too wet.

✔️ Ground oats help bind the patties together without the need for eggs.

✔️ Fresh cilantro or mint can be added for extra flavor.

✔️ Chilling the patties before cooking helps them keep their shape.

✔️ Patties can be frozen before cooking for future meals.

😍 The Result

Golden, crispy patties on the outside and tender, flavorful on the inside, packed with plant-based protein and fresh herbs. A healthy and satisfying meal the whole family will enjoy.
