🛒 Ingredients

For the Tofu

* 400 g extra-firm tofu

* 1 tablespoon soy sauce

* 1 teaspoon garlic powder

* 1 teaspoon onion powder

* ½ teaspoon paprika

* ½ teaspoon black pepper

* ½ teaspoon salt

For the Crispy Coating

* ½ cup all-purpose flour

* 2 eggs, beaten (or plant-based egg substitute)

* 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko breadcrumbs

* 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs

For Cooking

* 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Tofu

Press the tofu for 20–30 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut into thick cutlet-sized pieces.

2. Season

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Coat the tofu pieces evenly with the seasoning mixture.

3. Bread the Cutlets

Place the flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in a second bowl, and breadcrumbs mixed with Italian herbs in a third bowl.

Dip each tofu piece into the flour, then the egg mixture, and finally coat thoroughly with the breadcrumbs.

4. Cook Until Golden

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the tofu cutlets for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

Alternatively, bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes or air-fry for 12–15 minutes.

5. Serve

Serve immediately with lemon wedges, dipping sauce, fresh salad, roasted vegetables, or inside a sandwich.

💡 Chef’s Tips

* Extra-firm tofu works best because it holds its shape during cooking.

* Panko breadcrumbs create an extra crispy texture.

* Add chili powder or cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.

* For a healthier version, bake or air-fry instead of pan-frying.
