Ingredients
For the Chocolate Cake
2½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
¾ cup (75g) cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup (225g) butter
2 cups (400g) sugar
4 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1¼ cups (300ml) milk
For the Cherry Filling
2 cups (300g) pitted cherries
½ cup (100g) sugar
2 tbsp cornstarch
½ cup (120ml) water
For the Whipped Cream Frosting
3 cups (720ml) cold whipping cream
½ cup (60g) icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
For Decoration
1 cup chocolate shavings
12–16 whole cherries

Method
Step 1: Prepare the Cake
1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
2. Grease and line three 8-inch cake pans.
3. Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Step 2: Make the Batter
1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
2. Add eggs one at a time.
3. Add vanilla extract.
4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk.
5. Mix until smooth.
Step 3: Bake
1. Divide batter equally among pans.
2. Bake for 30–35 minutes.
3. Cool completely.
Step 4: Prepare Cherry Filling
1. Combine cherries, sugar, water, and cornstarch in a saucepan.
2. Cook over medium heat until thickened.
3. Allow to cool completely.
Step 5: Make Whipped Cream
1. Beat cold whipping cream until soft peaks form.
2. Add icing sugar and vanilla.
3. Continue beating until stiff peaks form.
Step 6: Assemble
1. Place first cake layer on a cake board.
2. Spread whipped cream.
3. Add cherry filling.
4. Repeat with remaining layers.
5. Cover the entire cake with whipped cream.
Step 7: Decorate
1. Press chocolate shavings around the sides.
2. Pipe whipped cream rosettes on top.
3. Place a cherry on each rosette.
4. Sprinkle extra chocolate shavings in the center.
